Validation
Validation
The process by which a granted European Patent gets converted into a bundle of national patents in the contracting states to the European Patent Convention (EPC).
The contracting states to the EPC may each specify their own requirements for validating a granted European Patent in that state before it will take effect in that country. These requirements may include requirements such as filing a translation of the specification of the patent into a national language of that country, and recording an address for service in that country.
